» Historic gig for Colosseum at Zappanale 2011The following news reached us today: Historic gig for Colosseum at Zappanale 2011 Jon Hiseman in interview Jörg Wulf / Jens Theo Müller It's been a great performance on Saturday night at 22nd Zappanale in Bad Doberan. But neither the audience nor the organizer suspected that it would be a historic concert of legendary jazz rock band Colosseum: Jon Hiseman, founder of the band, announced the end of Colosseum to Jörg Wulf (Arf-Society) and Jens Theo Müller (Radio der von Neil Young Getöteten): "It seems that the band has reached its end here. Barbara (Thompson) has Parkinson Desease and it's hard for her to play, and I can't go on tour and leave her at home alone."
For many of the visitors of the festival Colosseum has been one of the highlights. For nearly two hours Colosseum was offering a great performance with Jon Hiseman (drums) und his wife Barbara Thompson (Saxofon), Chris Farlowe (vocals), Mark Clarke (bass), David Clemson (guitar) and Dave Greenslade (organ), which ended with a legendary drum solo of Jon Hiseman. Acclaimed too were the performances of Barbara Thompson. Because of her illness it's been hard for her to enter the stage, but at the same time she enjoyed to be part of the festival in Bad Doberan. With her saxofon soli for example in Valentine Suite she sent waves of excitement through the audience. It's been a „great gig“ for Jon Hiseman and this legendary jazz rock formation, a worthy farewell concert.
